Circumstances
Ruth was last seen June 30, 1986 at approximately 2:00 pm leaving her residence on foot, in the vicinity of the 50 block of Leroy Street in River Rouge. Earlier that morning, she returned in a taxicab to her home, after having been out all night. She came back wearing hospital scrubs instead of the clothes she had on the night before, and was covered with bruises. Ruth told her daughter she had been beaten and raped by two men known to her, after she went to a local bar for a job interview. Ruth said she had been to the hospital and that her clothes were at the hospital. After bathing, changing her clothes, and putting on makeup, Ruth went outside for a walk to clear her head. Her family never saw her again, and she was officially reported missing seven days later on July 7, 1986.
Records indicate Ruth visited a medical clinic on July 3, 1986, just days after she left home. She was seen as a new patient and was given a diptheria / tetanus immunization.
Seven years after she disappeared, on October 8, 1993, a traffic ticket was issued to "Ruth Sharon Russie" in Pennsylvania. The ticket listed Ruth's birth date and an address in Belleville, MI. It also indicated that her Michigan license was expired.
